The Tao Is Tao (14)

                                                        14
                                       The true person of Tao
                                           shows conpassion
                                       without hope of reward,
for she can find a treasure
                                               and discard it.

                                                                     -- Jos Stabbert

But not every treasure
can be discarded.
Mercy,
moderation, and
modesty were
(according to the Tao Te Ching)
"treasures"
that Loa Tzu
would not let go,

and perhaps
unrequited compassion
is the greatest treasure
of them all
for the person who gives it?
